PID control works the same way but for things like temperature, speed, or pressure. It stands for Proportional, Integral, and Derivative—which are just fancy ways of saying:
Proportional (P): Reacts to how far you are from the target. The bigger the difference, the stronger the correction.
Integral (I): Looks at past mistakes and makes up for them over time. If you've been a little slow for a while, it adds extra gas to catch up.
Derivative (D): Predicts where things are headed and smooths out the adjustments to avoid overreacting.
In coffee, PID controllers are often used in espresso machines to keep water at a stable temperature, so every shot tastes consistent. Without PID, the temperature can swing up and down too much, leading to inconsistent brews.
